Dr Hickman, MB, BS, qualified as a doctor in 1975 at St Mary's Hospital, London.
After working in acute hospital medicine for two years he became a member of a Hertfordshire group medical practice until 1993 when he started his own practice. In 2005 he moved to Castle Douglas and opened the Kings Grange cosmetic clinic there.
In 1990 Dr Hickman trained in the use of the dermal fillers Zyderm & Zyplast (collagen) and developed an expertise in thread vein and varicose vein sclerotherapy. In 2007 he was the first in Scotland to use Laser Lipolysis.
He has trained with DEKA in Florence, Italy and with Fotona in Ljubljana, Slovenia, two of the world's leading laser manufacturers and exponents of aesthetic laser applications.
